Set Review ➟ LEGO® 76919 - McLaren Formula 1 Car

The truth is that the feeling I got from this set when I saw the box was a real pleasure. The first thing that caught my eye were the tyres, which despite being the same size I really liked. Printed tyres? wow! It's a set with 245 pieces, 9+, one driver and costs 26,99€ at LEGO.COM.

As always let's take a quick look at the contents first. Just 3 bags, a special plate for the base, the construction manual and an incredibly huge sticker sheet for such a small set. My son will enjoy sticking them on later. Don't expect him to stick them on the car :S

Well, let's start with the pilot. Look at the printed helmet as well as the full suit, torso and legs with vertical orange lines. Very cool. You can also see a printed F1 steering wheel and... a 2x1 cheese slope? Yes!

As a general rule, the vehicle's central rib is mounted on these models and the vehicle's characteristic shape is formed.

Fantastic, it's not all stickers :), we will also see some wedge slopes - some long and some short - as a new reference in orange and black. Here in this part they are used to give aerodynamics to the nose so that the car doesn't lift off the ground.

I love how the rear printed slopes are anchored together with the sky on the part behind the pilot's head location. Here is the simple but not trivial detail.

I love the wheels and hubcaps. The feel of the tyres impressed me. They give a grippy feel that I imagine will be very similar to real tyres.

And here is the final model, what do you think? It looked like a much more intricate model than it actually turned out to be. However, there is no doubt at least for me that the 9+ is due to the "belly" area of the car. These are sets of parts that need a lot of attention to bring to fruition.

The best of the last steps is the technique to give the car volume, that characteristic belly next to the cockpit. The rear wing and the bar in front of the control panel will finish the car. It is a well done and recognisable car. Some things don't convince me like for example the size of the rear wheels that as I said at the beginning of the review should be a bit wider, but the diameter is correct. I would have also put the reference 6443416 in orange to give that "Greek Y" image to the exterior structure of the cockpit. That reference does not exist at the moment so we will have to wait to make that change :). Nevertheless it is an excellent car, very well done for the amount of pieces it has, only 245. Without a doubt a model to have for the collectors of this line and for the seekers of those new references with infinite new uses. We thank LEGO for sending the set for review in this article although LEGO does not endorse or support in any way the opinions expressed in it.
