Set Review ➟ LEGO® 75388 Jedi Bob's starfighter
Let's rebuild the galaxy with another set from this series so popular among AFOLS. Set 75388 brings us Jedi Bob, of course, Ackbar trooper, and a Servo droid (SR-V0), priced at €39.99 and containing 305 pieces.
The contents are four bags and a couple of 12 x 6 wedge plates, some stickers, and a construction manual. Let's see what's in store for us.
In the first bag, we'll find the three minifigures. I was really looking forward to getting a Jedi Bob!
From here, we start building the fighter. A simple skeleton with legs is configured, the thruster engines are implemented, and not much else.
This part seems more interesting to me. I quite like the way they've done the front turbines. The line of the ship is now well-defined, although there's one aspect I really don't like and one that I love. I love the detail of the milk carton and the banana :), but I really dislike the gap that's left from side to side in the pilot's cockpit :O. Hopefully, they'll be well-hidden by the wings once they're inserted into the body of the ship.
The wings are built in a really cool way, with grey and red lines made with wedge plates—it looks great! The way the stud shooters are attached is really well done. You can play with it for ages without worrying about it falling apart in your hands!
As you can imagine, the other wing of the fighter is exactly the same but symmetrical. The fighter is genuinely cool and great to play with; access to the shooters is easy, it feels quite robust in your hands, and it's suitable for long and extensive play, always with care and supervision.
The ship is certainly quite eye-catching. As I mentioned before, I was hoping the gap in the cockpit would be well hidden, but looking at it from below, it's still perfectly visible. For me, the coolest part is the front turbines and the simulated paint on the wings using the wedge plates. I simply love it!
