Mark and Louis jibber jabber while assembling some small sets.

M: So have you done Harry Potters before?

L: No. You have, but I haven’t.

M: But what? I’ve done two, I think. The greenhouse and that…tall green…building.

L: Oh, the Ministry of Magic.

M: Yup. And that became parts real quick.

L: It…it was certainly one of the sets of all time.

M: How so?

L: I mean, I’m not, it’s not, it wasn’t good nor bad, it was just kind of a thing. It existed. It was tall. That’s all it had going for it.

M: Ah. Sarcasm. Haven’t they reissued that in a…I don’t know if it’s a bigger set?

L: Yeah, it’s a different ministry of magic.

M: There’s more than one ministry of magic?

L: Well no, it’s representing the same location. They’re just taking different elements of that building or location like a facility underground or something. I don’t know. I haven’t seen the movie in a while or read the books.

M: I think I watched one movie, no, two, kinda forced myself to watch it. Yeah, that…that Harry Potter’s for kids.

L: Oh, new Harry head from all I can tell.

M: A new Harry head?

L: Yeah look he’s…he’s squinting. Oh so…so he can uh…so he can ask to be in…in…in…uh…Lion Club. I forget the name. Gryffindor, yeah.

M: Here’s my Harry head trivia. There’s the early Harry heads, there’s two prints. The lightning bolt’s in a different place and I’ve been unable to get Brickl_ink to acknowledge the difference aaaand they can’t be bothered.

There’s also two Seamus heads that are nearly identical. Two different Seamus heads. Nearly identical. Mr. Peck asked about that and Brickl_ink didn’t want to be bothered.

Okay, do you have stickers in that set or not?

L: Nope. It’s all prints.

M: Okay, so wait, what’s the set number you’re working on?

L: 76460 Hogwarts Castle Sorting Hat Ceremony.

M: I have 76442 Hogwarts Castle Charms Class.

M: Now first, first order is to scan the stickers.

M: This is a paltry number of pieces for a fairly gargantuan parts bag.

L: You’re right.

M: Look, look at this.

L: And look at what I have.

M: Oh, you got the clear bags.

L: Yep, I’ve got plastic bags. I guess if you want quad colored pizza wedge place pieces in all four colors you’ll get a good amount of this set. The spares.

M: I don’t know who who any of these characters are. This guy looks like Santa Claus.

L: Yeah, he was the…that’s um…oh what’s where’s the box? Yeah. That’s, that’s Movie One Professor Flitwick before he got recast.

M: Okay.

M: I guess I’ll find his leg…oh there’s his legs. Wow. I don’t understand the…all the stubby legs on the Harry Potter characters. The first Harry Potters had the regular sized legs and now it seems they’re all short legged…

L: Because this most of these, a lot of these sets that you’ve been getting are from the earlier films when they were children.

M: Well the first sets…they were children? They didn’t…they hadn’t made the later movies or…

L: They didn’t make stubby legs yet! Cat.

L: Oh, Dad.

M: What?

L: How many…how many wands, black wand, uh, pairs do you have ’cause I need to break that one.

M: I don’t…what…this brown one?

L: This dark brown.

M: I don’t know if I have, I’ll…I can go check, see if I have black ones.

L: I guess, uh, McGonagall can hold on to the wand pair for now. Not sure if this is a new head for Draco where he’s hollerin’ or evilly smirking.

M: I think these sets are maybe half a season old if they’re not a whole season old.

L: Yeah, ’cause yours is for that system they were trying for the like the fifth Hogwarts Castle like build series, uh, style where there are classrooms that you can slide into like the bottom of certain buildings.

Most sketchily built table ever.

M: At least it’s got legs. It’s not like that One Piece bar stool.

L: Oh, if you want to talk about legs, look at the dinner table. It’s a well, you know, no, these stubby legged people can’t sit. They have to stand at the table.

M: So the seat is one plate off the floor?

L: Yep. Oh and what a what a decadent feast they have: two, ah, four cherries…and a chicken leg.

L: Oh, this is the table that you put the sorting hat on. It doesn’t want to stay there. [chuckles]

L: Ooooh. Hermione gets a skirt piece. Wow, fancy. Well that is a reused head if I ever did see one. Geez. Hermione can’t even stand at the table, her skirt gets in the way.

M: Ope! now I’m up to up to stickers.

L: Well, that’s that done.

M: Ope!

L: Messing one up already?

M: The sticker appears to be cut too large to fit within the…yup, the sticker is cut too large to fit inside the space.

L: It doesn’t go inside.

M: Oh, it goes on the outside.

L: You goofed it.

M: Well, I am vision impaired. It just looks like the inside because of the art on the sticker. Okay.

M: You’ve completed that set already?

L: Completed that set. Very tiny. It’s not a lot of building in it.

M: No?

L: No.

M: Does this… does the spinny thing spin?

L: This one does.

M: What mechanism is it using?

L: Axle.

M: Oh? It’s just an axle?

L: It’s just an axle.

M: Ah, this one does go inside. Geez, even managed to get that sticker on there fairly straight.

M: What’s next up? Jurassic Park?

L: Raptor Off Road Escape. 76972. Come on. Two booklets?! Great Scott! And a dinosaur loose in the box.

M: Is that the same dinosaur we’ve seen before, just with…

L: Maybe.

M: …different paint?

L: Maybe. You’d have to check.

L: I’m sure there’s gotta be stickers somewhere. Oh, there they are.

M: Scan em.

L: Oh bag with…look at that. Nothing. I guess they needed a dinosaur-sized bag for… not a dinosaur because the dinosaur wasn’t in the bag.

M: Ooh, we got one of those.

L: Did you get a spare beard for Flitwick? Oh, there goes Harry. He died. Got taken out by the dinosaur.

M: Yeah, I got a spare beard. Can’t have too many spare Santa Claus beards.

M: Yeah, I think I got spares in the other sets too.

L: Another misnamed velociraptor to to add the group of misnamed velociraptors. Because there’s not actually velociraptors in Jurassic Park. I believe deion… deinonychus?

M: Yeah. The eight-foot-tall velociraptors when really they were the size of a chicken.

L: Ehn… housecat.

M: Did you get a Ron in that set?

L: Nope. It was Hermione, Draco, and Harry, and McGonagall. Because there could never be too many McGonagalls. Who did you get?

M: Well, it’s… it’s the gnome from Lord of the Rings there.

L: Which one?

M: Well, this guy.

L: No, which gnome?

M: Oh the…the… Dwarves.

L: Yeah, from The Hobbit.

M: It’s… it’s Bifur, Bofur, or one of those, one of those guys. It’s not Thorin Oakenshield.

L: It’s not Bombur ’cause Bombur’s the fat one.

M: Oh look. a printed tile.

L: Wow, what is it? Oh, it’s the it’s the collectible.

M: Oh, is that it?

L: Now who’s that? I think that’s… that’s… that’s… Godric Gryffindor or whatever his name was. The founder of Gryffindor House.

M: King Rohan or something, I don’t know.

L: What was the name of the main character from Highlander?

L: Yes, the one where the guy wore blue.

L: That’s clearly who that is.

M: What’s this, uh, white feather thing supposed to be? a hanky?

L: It’s a feather.

L: Because this is…

M: It doesn’t look very feather-like though, really.

L: It’s, it, you know, a plume from the knight helmets.

M: I know that. What is it supposed to be in this context? My absolute ignorance of all things Harry Potter is no doubt evident. Oh, I guess those are my…

L: Are they? Yes they are. Those are yours.

M: …magic wands.

L: Well…

M: Like chops… the chopsticks before they made chopstick pieces.

L: Yeah, you’re gonna have to clip them.

M: [short laugh] I’ll go get a loose one out of the stash.

L: Yeah, why they give you four of ’em? You only need one.

M: It’s probably problematic to get a piece that tiny out of the out of the mold. Or if they were individual they’re so small they’d chance getting lost in the bag or production or something.

L: They only gave me one set of tan ones, and I only used one of those.

M: But if it was just one…

L: Uhn.

M: …wand with no sprue…

L: Yeah, they, well…

M: …getting that out of the…

L: I mean they gave, they gave me two black ones and then McGonagall and Draco both used the black ones. They gave me…

M: Are you paying attention to what I’m saying?

L: Yeah, but why they give us, give you two set of four brown ones when…

M: Because they’re gonna get lost!

L: They’re not gonna get lost here. [laughs] I don’t understand your logic.

M: Well, if I was seven or eight or whatever this set is rated for they’d be lost.

L: Yeah, this says they’re rated for seven and it’s got something that’s not adding up. Clearly my set could have gotten more wands.

M, L: [laughter]

L: Oh!

M: Oh, it’s a slidey. You have a slidey mechanism.

L: I’ve got a doohickey. Yes, so I can uh…

M: Do the ferns open?

L: Arrrr!

M: That’s… not… what I would have expected, but okay.

L: So um, can I, I can’t, I can’t get any more forwards, but…

M: Right.

L: Yeah, what a, what a hidden dinosaur. So it’s, I guess it’s so you can pop out, scare, and go: “rahrr”. I don’t know. I think the one from Ninjago in 2011 was a little bit better.

M: You realize now you’re gonna have to go get the one from Ninjago 2011 so we can photograph it for the review.

L: Oh, we don’t even have that though.

M: Then it… then how is it better? How do you know it’s better?

L: ’Cause it’s like a very… it’s a, it’s, it’s a design that LEGO has repeated many, many times where it’s a catapult and it yeets a guy out of a thing and the things split apart.

M: Okay, what sets do you have that have this design?

L: I’ve got a Monster… I’ve got a Monster Fighters one.

M: Well, okay, there you go. It’ll be fun finding the parts for that out of the giant bag of parts.

L: No, no, I know exactly where it is. Oh my god!

M: Oh, is that the new…

L: I don’t know. What? You want a photo of it? Cool.

Part 7035. Not a new piece, but one neither of us had seen.

M: That’s got the same uh, if it’s not the same it’s similar to the one in the train heist set.

L: Oh. Is that a new revolver p…? It is a new revolver piece. Wow. Look at that. New revolver.

M: How is this new?

L: Look at the bottom of the handle.

M: Oh, it’s got a hole in the bottom.

L: And also the sculpt on the handle’s a bit different and I think there’s a… you can see a little…

M: Oh the chambers for the bullets look a little…oh the and the grip?

L: The grip’s a bit fatter.

M: Well I don’t know about fatter, fatter wouldn’t fit in a hand, but it’s angled down in the back. Well, we’ll get photos and then we can compare.

30132 (1996), 88419 (2010), 77078 (2017). The narrower frame behind the cylinder gives the impression of a fatter grip on 77078.

L: It’s unfortunately a very soft plastic that mars easily.

M: Can we see the part number on here?

L: Guess he will forever hold on to this flare gun. That’s not coming out of his hand.

M: There’s copyright and the number and then LEGO on the side there and it makes it look like the copyright is the year seventeen fifty three or something. That… that number’s tiny.

L: Clearly the copyright is for the make of the gun and not the action. Not the action. Not the year.

M: Not the year.

L: But this bright orange six around flare gun.

M: Did you watch that Jurassic movie?

L: I haven’t seen anything past the first Jurassic World movie. Haven’t seen the second one, haven’t seen Dominion, haven’t seen Rebirth.

M: Well this… this version brought out the tropes in spades.

L: It’s, it’s Jurasussi Parak. How how could it not? I guess that’s why we’ve got CleverGirl two point oh. Now with…

M: Well that… it’s the little… it’s the little daughter in the movie. The little daughter who finds the baby dinosaur and decides to keep it as a pet while they’re trying to survive on an island of man-eating dinosaurs. Of course you’re going to take a baby dinosaur away from its mother.

L: Especially a herbivore from the looks of it. Those things are, you know. Yeah. Good going. And at least it wasn’t like the second one where it would happen to a T-Rex.

M: How many times in how many movies have we seen the kid swipe the [chuckles] animal and [chuckles] stuff it in the backpack [chuckles] and carry it around until it causes trouble? Oh, wasn’t that Stranger Things? Didn’t we learn that?

L: I don’t think that was Stranger Things. I don’t think they stuffed a demodog into their backpack. They might have, I don’t know. I can’t remember season two. That was like, what, 10 years ago?

M: That’s like [chuckles] yeah, it was like [chuckles] 40 years ago. When Dustin, trying to impress Sadie Sink, kept the monster to himself.

L: Yep.

M: [laughs] ’Cause everyone knows that [chuckle] the monster in a backpack is gonna [chuckle] impress the girl.

L: Now if only LEGO ever made it a Stranger Things set maybe I would know about this. Ooh, lime green brick. Wow, lime green brick. Hopefully this… hopefully they finally fix the lime mixture. Lime green brick but it looks bright green in the instructions.

M: That’s a kind of an ongoing gripe I have. I wish LEGO would standardize their colors when it comes to instructions. [chuckling] Color control in their instructions is about as good as their color control on the plastic.

L: Specifically dark red.

M: Oh, there’s new dark red.

L: They’ve done a new dark red?

M: Well that’s… yeah… it’s how it’s listed. They did a new dark red some years ago.

L: Is this the crumbly dark red or the not crumbly dark red?

M: I…

L: Time for my first sticker. Wow.

M: Huhn.

L: I guess this this Jeep must be electric. All it shows is a battery.

M: Okay, clearly I have missed some assembly somewhere.

L: The dinosaur hold onto the piece of meat. Oh, he can’t. Never mind.

M: Geez, I’ve got an extra light gray tile here with no idea of…

L: Might be a spare.

M: But I don’t see… a… use of it… anywhere… in the instructions.

L: Bonus piece?

M: So it’s not… I guess so.

L: Might be used… it might be from the next bag.

M: Yeah, maybe that’s what happens. It’s definitely not in the bag two.

L: That has gotta be the most uncomfortable looking seats ever.

M: That would be true to a Hummer.

L: Yeah.

M: Did you ever sit in in the original Hummer?

L: No.

M: You wanna talk about the most uncomfortable seat ever.

L: I don’t think this guy can drive either. He’s got uh too many things to hold on to.

M: [laughs]

L: They gave him a piece of chicken too, [chuckles] he… What am I supposed to do with that? Oh. Am I supposed to stick it onto the walkie-talkie? Chicken phone? Well maybe, maybe once the… I get the bed of the truck built I can…

M: [laughing] Did… did… oh… You, yeah, you did get the same skirt piece for Hermione. This is the stupidest thing.

L: Yeah, no wonder they would use it for a planter in some set. [tears open a new bag of parts] Yep, another bag of kind of nothing.

M: Well. Is this the same Hermione as you have?

L: Uh. No. No she’s got uh, the grey robes, that one’s got the red robes.

M: Head?

L: Head? Yep.

M: Same head.

L: Does this, does she look like she’s gonna piss herself?

M: Oh, yup. Okay.

L: You remember about stuffing dinosaurs in backpacks, guess what I got?

M: You got the backpack?

L: Got the backpack.

M: Pink backpack.

L: Pink, pink parachute backpack. The hair piece that does not want to sit fully on her head.

M: Because of the backpack?

L: Because of the backpack. Oh my gosh, did I get a spare swirly cookie? Oh my gosh. There are two swirly cookies! Yeah, that’ll… put the tiny dinosaurs in front of the big dinosaur.

M: Little girl should be carrying the…

L: Yeah. [laughs]

M: Oh, yeah. Anything anybody carries causes them to tip over.

L: Yeah, like this walkie talkie. Oh, okay, those aren’t the seatbacks. There are actual chairs. So they put seatbacks behind the seatbacks. And this set really does does love the ingot piece. They’re everywhere.

M: Yeah, it seems like that piece gets used quite a bit.

L: Ooh! Ooh, Dad, look, new piece. Woo! Woo! Well, new to me at least.

M: Yeah, they released that… I think earlier this year. New Elementary had a bit on it if I recall correctly.

L: Long cheese slope. It’s so weird not to see the old clear brown plastic anymore.

M: Oh the…

L: ’Cause now we’re, we, we have, we’re in the age of clear black. And the hat just fell off the table.

M: All LEGO must end up on the ground.

L: Oh my gosh…

M: You know, that’s the rule.

L: …a printed part.

M: Oh?!

L: So I guess uh if you want a printed Jurassic Park logo on a red…

M: Curved tile?

L: Red curved tile. Oh boy. I got my, nearly put the sticker on upside down. Oh no. I don’t know.

M: Know the other piece that’s everywhere lately? This two by two with two studs on it.

L: Well because that one…

M: That seems to be everywhere.

L: Well that one can be used as a useful piece for construction while uh, well the ingot it’s just grump greebles because you can’t never have too many greebles, I guess. How many ingots were in the uh X-Files set?

M: Not a whole lot as I recall. There was one set that had gazillions of them.

L: Can’t remember what that is?

M: No.

L: Now what if it was a Colosseum? Who knows?

M: Luckily we never have to build the Colosseum again.

L: Ope! ’nother ingot piece. And one day LEGO went up to their…

M: [laughing] This supposed to be the French tickler or something?

L: No, it’s to… it’s… it’s the, um… Oh! It was it was the… this is recreating the first ever charms class we see where, uh, they learned Wingardium Leviosa and and you know Flitwick levitates the feather and then Hermione goes it’s Wingardium Levi-o-Saw not Levi-o-Suh. And then Ron blows himself up because of course if you say it wrong you, you just explode, I guess.

M: [laughs]

L: Because the…

M: [chuckling]

L: …the spell for making things levitate and the spell for making you blow up are, um, are the only difference…

M: One phoneme apart…

L: …is the stress you apply on on the word leviosa.

M: Oh, more printed pieces.

L: Lucky you. Oh boy. Guess what I have. Another ingot piece. I guess a dino radar.

M: Of course you always put the uh… chalkboard in [chuckles] front of the fireplace.

L: Well, only reason you do…

M: What better place?

L: …only reason you’re doing that in this set is that this thing is meant to… you’re meant to break apart all the little sub-modules so you can build a little classroom out like you use the…

M: It’s got… it’s using hinges. You can’t break ’em apart.

L: No, like you take the… pop the chalkboard off and put it off to the side when you open your setup.

M: Oh.

L: Because this thing is meant to, you’re meant to fold it up and stuff it inside of a, uh, inside of another set never to be seen again.

M: Oh, look at that.

Note the little lip there on the side of the wall, good for guiding your folded up set into another set to never be seen again.

L: See?

M: It folds up.

L: So, oh, wow. So the, the dino radar goes in the trunk, goes in the back of the truck. Of course, you know, you… you would get this out if you could, you know, had a free hand or could reach up there. I don’t even have the wheels on.

M: [laughing] It’s like the popcorn vending machine where all the popcorn’s above your head.

L: Yeah how, how am I supposed to get my dino radar out of my electric Jeep on a jungle island full of man-eating dinosaurs and they make me hold on to the… on to the radio and the flare gun and give me… and… and I am too short. Clearly that’s why the slopes are there so you can you can drag that off… oh! oh! yeah, you just can’t get that. Just can’t get it. [chuckles]

M: [chuckling] Maybe maybe they need to… Hermione leviosa it up there…

L: Maybe that’s why the dinosaur… that’s why the dinosaur’s here, so he can, so he can show up out of the bushes and grab it out of the truck.

M: Okay, I guess that completes that one.

The completed 76442 set.

L: Now to Plo your Koon. Oh can’t say that. What’s his name though? Good old little Plo Koon. Finally has a new head. It’s only been twenty years. About that. Not. probably not. Fifteen years maybe.

L: Oh yes, what a… the license plate of all time, the number twenty. Not even twenty, it’s two.

M: In the real world a license plate like that would be highly prized.

L: I mean it would be so high… it’s so highly prized because you can’t remove it from the Jeep.

M: Well, okay, Plo… what is this thing called? Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter Microfighter Fighter.

L: Fighter fighter. Ah, you get the…

M: Is this the first?…no, it’s not the first Star Wars set I’ve ever built new. Second.

L: Second?

M: I think so. I built the uh… what the bariatric chamber or whatever they call that thing.

L: Yeah, the bacta tank.

M: Bacta tank.

An aside: the only reason I got the bacta tank set was to get the diaper legs for this character in my comics.

L: Could have sworn you had a few others.

M: The old ones that I got off of eBay.

L: Sealed?

M: Sealed? No. What, what else?

L: I don’t know, you gotta…

M: What other sets do I have? Well, well I…

L: The stuff in the vault.

M: They’re all… [chuckling] Yeah, they’re all si… [chuckling] they’re all sitting in the cabinet unopened. There might have been a minifigure pack or a battle pack, but nothing that’s approaching a real set.

L: Oh wow. What a… what a great use of storage for the side. One syringe.

M: It’s the syringe that’s missing from Scully’s lab. [laughs]

L: Hmm, the, the render shows the… the… the radio floating off to the side over here.

M: There’s not a clip connector?

L: No clip.

M: What about that right there?

L: That’s on the gun. Because of course you need to bring a rifle to the island along with your flare gun. But obviously this is so you can put the, uh, syringe in the…

M: Oh… in the… in the gun?

L: …on the top of the gun. But of course, they just put the single syringe on the side of the truck where it could easily get broken by a dirt kickup. Well let, let’s see, so we can shimmy our driver in here, even though he cannot drive because he has a radio and a flare gun. Maybe.

M: Well! Plo Koon has a lacquer coated…

L: Ooh, that is very shiny.

M: …handle to his lightsaber.

L: Can I? Guess I can put the dinosaur in the back of the truck. Maybe is that why the chicken? So I can put the chicken in the… Oh, but if I put the chicken in the back of the truck I can’t put the dinosaur in the back of the truck? Okay. I can get everything into the truck. Can I get the child into the truck? Okay. I can get the child into the truck. Barely.

L: That’s that. Arrr.

M: You build waaay faster than I do.

L: Yup. That is um… hm…

M: What?

L: Hmm.

M: Does that back… doesn’t fold down or anything?

L: Nope. You just gotta jump for it, I guess. Just… see. And set up the, set up the giant dino radar. For a dinosaur to move about one foot out of a tree. I’m gonna go find that Nedry set.

M: Why the Nedry set?

L: ’Cause this is basically just the Nedry set, but bigger. It’s but it’s, it’s, it, it’s a truck and foliage with a dinosaur.

M: Okay. Look up and see if that’s the same. Look at the part number on the dinosaur and see if that’s the same as something that’s come along earlier.

L: [at computer] I mean it looks… fairly similar to… where’s the part… oh I can’t even see the part number.

M: Use the microscope.

L: Oh now I can. One-one oh-two four-two.

[looking up parts on internet]

L: Dad!

M: What?

L: New dinosaurs.

M: New one?

L: I think so. Oh, used in two sets. Yup.

M: Two sets this wave or…

L: Two sets this wave. Raptor and Titanosaurus Tracking Mission and Raptor Off-Road Escape. Though it might be that Brickl_ink is actually…

M: Well, if the number that’s molded into the piece is different, then it’s different. There’s no telling what Brickl_ink might or might not do with anything.

M: This has got to be the most overbuilt wing ever on a little tiny spaceship.

L: Yep, this is looks to be a new mold.

M: All the Jurassic Park sets are in a box over there. That’s if you want to be bothered to actually look in a box for a part.

L: Yeah. This is a new raptor mold.

M: Okay.

L: I guess they finally decided to retire the old giant one. Gave us a slightly less giant one.

M: Well that’s the same size as…

L: The atrociraptors. Not the velo… not the old velociraptor. The old velociraptor had separate legs and arms. Gargantuan.

L: Convenient weapon storage.

M: I didn’t see the storage clip for Plo Koon’s lightsaber. And I’m always disappointed that you don’t get the whole astromech, just the, the lid here on these little sets.

L: I mean that tends to be the case whenever an astromech is included with a spaceship. Sometimes they’ll give you the, the rest of them, but sometimes they just don’t.

M: You must need to have a big ship to justify the whole thing.

L: What the…

M: You’d have to have a big enough space to accommodate the legs popping out the side. So you’d need a like a four by four, four by two hollow to drop it into.

L: Like in the, oh what is it? The it’s not the Y Wing, it’s the… There’s there’s one Star… there’s one like Star Wars set that I have that includes a full astromech, but you have to yank his head off and stick it on a turntable because the back of the ship is not big enough to accommodate the whole body inside of it.

M: Well, that would be preferable. At least you’d have two figures that you could play with aside from the ship. And Plo Koon’s head here, this is definitely a step up from the old rubbery one.

M: Yep, dust magnet, that one. These dual molds are fairly complicated. This one has got… this one is kinda next level complicated.

L: Yeah, meanwhile McGonagall just has a a ring of hair in her hat.

M: There’s a little bit of difference… I think there’s a little bit of difference in the dual molded legs compared to the single mold. They have to dodge… They have to have a different internal structure so the hole on the back retains some integrity around it.

M: Your pearlized blue cat here is a little… seems like it’s a little matte. It doesn’t seem shiny.

L: Uh that’s kinda how they this type of pearl plastic looks to me. Or how it’s always looked. No, it’s not gonna be super super sparkly and glittery. a lot of times those those pearl parts kinda look really flat. Especially the, the little like pearl dot parts that get used for like pearls and stuff. Gems. There there were a lot of pearl parts in that Dungeons and Dragons set and they kinda all look like that.

M: Is it because the it’s a thicker, thicker mold there’s more solid in there? I don’t recall the white, the pearlized white flame pieces there, like the flame pieces coming out the butt of that Ninjago mech.

L: I mean you go look at the white ones or the little… I mean, yeah, the like the pearl swords just look kinda look clear.

M: [goes to look for set] Of course I probably disassembled that set.

L: He’s right there in front of you.

M: What? Oh.

L: Oop.

M: Falling apart.

L: Ow. [trouble assembling the Nedry]

M: Yeah, these have… this seems like it’s more sparkly. And getting different highlights on it. And the cat just kinda doesn’t catch the same way.

L: Maybe because it’s just blue.

M: Oh maybe. What else do we have that’s blue?

L: Uh I’ve got stuff that’s pink, but I don’t think I have blue. C’mon. I know you wanna build a Nedry.

M: [Laughs]

L: I know, I know you wanna build the set where the guy gets brutally murdered by a pack of venomous dinosaurs.

M: Yeah, well maybe if there was paper instructions I’d deal with.

L: I don’t know where they went.

M: [chuckling] In the box with all your other paper instructions.

L: They weren’t in there. I looked through the entire box.

M: Is it a little book or a big or a…? Like that size that you’re working on there?

L: I think it was smaller than this. Yup, about this big.

M: I certainly do not recall a wall of potions in the sorting hat scene.

L: That’s not… that’s not meant to be the wall of potions. That’s meant to be the, oh, what is it? The, the big, the big wall-mounted um, class points chart at the start of the school year. Everybody, you know, you gotta make sure your your class gets the most points so you can win some cup or something.

M: I do not recall that at all in the movie.

L: It was in the movie.

M: Well…

L: But of course, this is like much, much smaller than the one that was in the movie. The one in the movie was the size of a wall.

M: Oh.

L: It was…

M: I guess that’s… [laughs] That’s one reason I don’t relate. The other reason is [laughs] like I could care less.

L: Yeah. I mean, well that’s… Let’s see uh… [furiously searching the internet for Hogwarts points chart reference]

M: When we get a 2001 Space Odyssey pod with…

L: I guess…

M: …Bowman and Poole where LEGO recreates the scene where they get in the pod and talk in front of Hal…then I’ll be concerned about details.

L: Oh, I guess in the film they were that big. I was thinking of the other more inter… the other interpretation where they were much, much larger.

M: [viewing images on smartphone] This is a…

L: [back to building Nedry] That’s a screen capture of the film.

M: Yeah, the screen, but this is kind of a pathetic representation of that thing that I’m looking at from the film clip. Are these upside down? These have to be in there the correct way.

L: That is in their correct orientation.

M: Left to right it’s wrong.

L: Could be a flipped screen cap.

M: Yeah, but they’ve got the yellow… the wheels on the side are next to the yellow ones, not the blue ones.

L: Oh then they made a…

M: They’ve got yellow-red-green-blue, not yellow-red-blue-green, and the wheelie things are on the other side.

L: Yeah, that’s how it is on the box. So LEGO might have made a hiccup.

M: Uhnnn.

L: [completing the Nedry set] There we go. There’s our… there’s our tree. Now let us let us compare.

M: Oh, and this other, this other shot has them the other way around though.

L: What is it? What shot?

M: [showing phone] This one here at the bottom.

L: Oh that is… I’m not even sure if that’s from the film. Oh there… there’s another one from the film.

M: [continuing to browse images] That one has the colors in yet a different order.

L: Yes, so let’s, let’s compare the two, the two sneak attack leap gimmicks. One from Monster Hunters and one from Jurassic Park. Okay. Oh, it popped off, oh no. I done, I done hit the old set too hard. Oh! I really hit it too hard. Oh goodness. [rebuilds gimmick]

M: Well, that’s a launcher. That’s not a slide out.

L: It’s, you know, like a sneak attack. You’re not supposed to get it. [referencing the dinosaur gimmick] And this is like rarrr.

M: Okay.

L: [referencing the Monster Hunters gimmick] And this is like tosses a dude.

M, L: [laughing]

M: I think whoever’s in charge of continuity at Harry Potter movies needs to step it up a little bit. All right.

L: Or, or we need to figure out which specific scene LEGO found this order of colors in.

M: All right, I guess it’s time to take some pictures.

L: Yeah, but, aaaah, this, I don’t know where his pith helmet went.

M: What is it? A white one?

L: Is it just a white pith helmet? Well, I probably have a half a dozen of them. I’ll get you one.

As of August 2026 only the head shown above left is recognized in the Brickl_ink catalog, even though their own minifigure images clearly show both versions. Some research suggests the head on the right with the lightning bolt over the bridge of the glasses (bridge head) was released in 2001 and the head on the left with the lightning bolt touching the glasses rim (rim head) was released after 2001. Brickl_ink’s reference for minifigures HP004 (2001), HP005 (2001), and HP033 (2002) show two images, one with each of the heads. Brickl_ink catalog minifigures shown with the bridge head are: HP035, HP036; minifigures shown with the rim head are: HP019, HP025, HP038. Additional light nougat heads with the rim head were released in 2004.

The sense I make of the data suggests that:

The right rear foot of the raptor has the part number 110242. LEGO/Brickset is labelling it 114000. Perhaps that 114000 number is the gray part of the duo-mold.
